Blog post #5

A couple of years ago Barack Obama set up The Deferred action for childhood arrivals or Daca. Daca is very important to children that have spent their whole entire lives in the Unties states. Daca grants them a way to make a living here in the United States for a specific time period which mostly is about two years.
This gives the opportunity for them to go to college and better themselves to things legally. This Daca should be made a law an act to which children can continue their lives. There are so many requests to which a child or teenager needs to full fill to be able to approve and qualify for Daca. With Daca teenagers are trying to make something out of their lives are gonna be sent back to their home countries that by the way, they have no idea about. Their gonna be sent back to a completely different place and they have no relation of or know how it works. Going to a new country with a different way to socialize and different teaching methods not knowing where anything is or how to get there. That can be very devastating for a teenager especially very early in life.
Another reason for why Daca should be made a law is these kids won't have to be separated from their families. The law is meant to protect those that can't protect themselves. These kids did not choose to come to this country but were brought why should they suffer the consequences that their parents or guardians made.

You make really good points. Daca is very important to teenagers, college students, adults, and children because it lets them live the American Dream. Without it, they are left with no job or education, which could lead them in a difficult position. You are right when you say children don't have a choice, but just to follow their parents. The parent's decision is for them to have a better life. If they are sent back, they are not going to have the same education as here in the U.S. This topic is so good, because it relates to so many people who are dealing with this problem. And it is very difficult now because of Trump and his followers who are wanting to take away this policy. I like how you target (in a good way) teenagers because we are witnessing the horrible news where children are suffering because they are being separated from their families. Brisa I really enjoyed your blog.

I strongly believe in this topic because I have family that are under DACA. I like how you briefly explain what DACA(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is for. I would have liked if you explain the process on how to receive it other then that I still liked it. I do remember that on September 5, 2017 Donald Trump decided to put the program on paused in which brought anxiety among many young immigrants. But wasn't capable to end it. Most people know that there families came to America for a better opportunity but they still deny them the opportunity and resources to succeed. The have grown up most in there life in the United States for them to go back and start fresh as well. They might become the next big engineers, doctors, entrepreneur be we wouldnt know. I believe DACA should stay for a long time>

I very much agree with this, and I think that DACA is especially important in preserving children's healthy development and in preventing them from having to return to a country that is potentially dangerous for them. No child should be forced by a government to be separated from their family, it takes a significant toll on their psychological development, I mean look at all of the stories of kids having major psychological issues after being released from ICE's custody. Violence and turmoil that some of these families have tried to escape is also a major issue, many people come to this country seeking asylum but not all are able to stay legally, and I'm sure that DACA is very important in allowing those kids to stay in a country that is safer (sometimes) and where they have opportunities for a better life.
I like that you focused on both the separating of families and also the importance of education and the opportunities afforded by them being able to stay here legally.
